The trunk raised for good luck
Across many cultures the elephant stands for memory, wisdom and family, and an elephant with its trunk raised is kept at home as a sign of good luck. Most of the pieces here lift the trunk high. On the Silver Elephant Figurine Trunk Up and the Silver Elephant Mother Figurine Trunk Up the skin is a field of fine, deep wrinkles while the ears are left smooth and polished, so the light runs across the contrast; the white tusks give each face its expression.
The family grows from there: the Silver Happy Elephant Figurine, the Silver Elephant Figurine Sitting, posed like a calf, and The Wild One, a large silver statue with its ears spread wide. In matte black, the Black Elephant Figurine and its trunk-up companion read as pure silhouette, a strong accent on a pale shelf or a stone console.
Ceremonial Indian elephants
At India's great festivals, elephants are dressed in embroidered, gilded cloths. Our Indian elephants carry that finery as an ornate saddle cloth with fringes and patterns. The Silver Indian Elephant Statue sets it in gold against silver skin, the Gold Indian Elephant Statue is finished in 24-karat gold from trunk to tail, and the Black Indian Elephant Statue pairs a matte black body with a silver saddle cloth. The Silver Elephant Statue with Gold Back plays the same contrast in a simpler form.
These are the large elephant statues of the collection, made to stand on their own: on the floor beside a sofa, at the end of a hallway or on a low table where they can be seen from every side. The submerged elephants work the other way. Only the head, the trunk and a curve of the back rise above an imagined waterline, as if the animal were bathing: a playful elephant decor piece for a desk, in three sizes.
Elephants by Dalí and Pedro Ramírez Vázquez
Salvador Dalí painted The Temptation of St. Anthony in 1946, with elephants walking on impossibly long, thin legs. Our statue brings one of them into three dimensions, its load carried high above the ground. D'Argenta's Dalí pieces are made under a licence approved by the Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí.
The Silver Elephant Sculpture by Pedro Ramírez Vázquez goes the other way: a smooth, abstract form of rounded volumes, created with the architect of the National Museum of Anthropology and the Estadio Azteca in his lifetime. If your collection of elephant figurines is part of a wider menagerie, our lion, giraffe and hippopotamus statues are its natural company.
Frequently asked questions
What does an elephant with its trunk up mean?
It is widely kept as a symbol of good luck and good fortune, and many people place one near the entrance of a home or an office. Most elephants in this collection lift the trunk; the submerged figurines and the abstract piece are the exceptions.
Which elephant statue works on the floor?
The Indian elephants and The Wild One are the large statues of the collection. Each piece's page lists its size, and an art advisor can show you any of them on a video call.
How do I care for a silver or gold elephant?
Every piece is protected by a resistant lacquer, so a soft, dry cloth is all it needs; metal polish and cleaning agents are best avoided. All pieces carry our lifetime guarantee covering manufacturing defects.
