D'Argenta
Gold and silver couple sculpture on a marble floor

Floor Decor

Some sculptures ask for the floor: big cats in silver and 24-karat gold, a tall giraffe and Frida Kahlo's Broken Column, chosen to stand at the foot of a staircase or on a low plinth, seen from every side.

Big cats with presence

Lions, leopards and a tiger set the tone of this floor decor. The Gold Guardian Lion Statue sits upright in warm 24-karat gold, its mane falling in heavy locks, a natural sentinel beside an entrance. The Resting Silver Tiger Statue lies stretched out, crisp black stripes over silver, drawing a long horizontal line on the floor beside a sofa or below a window.

The leopards carry black rosettes over polished silver or 24-karat gold. One sits tall and watchful; the Silver Leopard Statue Contemplating on a Branch rests along a dark, twisted branch and gazes out, fittingly, since the leopard is the big cat best known for resting in trees. Our Leopard statues and Lion statues pages follow each family further.

The Broken Column and other statement sculptures

Frida Kahlo painted The Broken Column in 1944, after spinal surgery, showing her body opened to reveal a cracked Ionic column, held together by a corset. Our sculpture, made working with Frida Kahlo's family, is a female torso in gold and silver tones with a copper-red fractured column visible inside it, gold straps across the body and drapery around the hips.

Other pieces work through line rather than mass. The Abstract Flame Silver Sculpture is a slender, twisting open loop in polished silver on a black cube, and the Silver Giraffe Statue Standing Father rises tall and slender, its coat textured in patches. One is abstract, the other comes from the savannah, and each makes a statement sculpture in its own register.

Where floor sculptures belong

A floor sculpture anchors a room. It can stand beside a staircase, at the end of a hallway, flanking a fireplace or an entrance, or on a low plinth where it is seen from every side. In a living room, one strong piece often does more than several small ones: a living room sculpture of this kind becomes the point the eye returns to.

Not every piece here is an animal or a figure. A woven basket in antiqued silver, imitating plaited fibre and carrying two handles, and a raised flower pot on an ornate Corinthian-style base bring the same finish to everyday objects. Our Flower pots page continues in that direction.

Frequently asked questions

How can I tell whether a piece suits the scale of my room?

An art advisor can share the dimensions of any piece and show it to you on a video call, so you can judge it against your space before deciding. We ship throughout Mexico from Mexico City.

Which pieces work best by an entrance?

The Gold Guardian Lion Statue is the natural choice, an upright, watchful figure made to accompany a doorway. The sitting leopard and the giraffe also read well from a distance, while the resting tiger and the leopard on its branch prefer a place beside a sofa or on a low plinth.

How do I care for a large gold sculpture or a silver one?

Every piece is protected by a resistant lacquer, so a soft, dry cloth is all it needs; metal polish and cleaning agents are best avoided. All pieces carry our lifetime guarantee covering manufacturing defects.
