Animal Sculpture

Land animals, sea creatures and birds finished by hand in silver, 24-karat gold and matte black: animal sculptures that range from galloping horses and leaping whales to smooth, simplified forms with Nahuatl names.

Pieces from $3,360 to $616,650 MXN

Caught in motion

Most of these animal statues are naturalistic. Fur, feathers and hide are finely textured, bodies caught mid-movement. The Black Copper Charging Bull Statue drops its head to charge. The Silver Running Wild Horses Statue sends a line of horses galloping along a long black base, and an eagle lifts its wings with a fish in its talons: the bald eagle, national emblem of the United States since 1782.

The sea creatures rise from dark green, wave-like rock bases as if leaving the water. On the Silver Humpback Whale Mother & Calf Statue the whale arcs over its young; two dolphins leap side by side, and a Maine lobster raises silver claws from a darker reddish shell. Land animals, sea creatures and birds each have their own page; this one gathers the wildlife sculptures of all three.

Silver, mirror gold and matte black

The finish changes an animal's character as much as its pose. Silver animals make up most of the collection, and bright silver shows every strand of texture. Mirror 24-karat gold is kept for pieces with presence: the Serene Gold Horse Head Statue, its mane flowing above a stepped black base, the camel, the seated guardian lion and the golden retriever. A gold animal statue glows against dark wood.

Matte black turns the giraffe, the swan with its raised, stylised wings and the charging bull into pure silhouettes. Other pieces mix finishes. The toucan wears a gold beak on a silver body, and the Gold Egyptian Scarab Sculpture sets a gold wing case over silver; in ancient Egypt the scarab was a sacred sign of the rising sun and of renewal.

Mothers, cubs and simplified forms

Mother-and-young groups recur across the collection: the whale and its calf, a polar bear sheltering her cubs, and the Gold Leopard Statue on a Branch with Leopard Cubs, the leopard draped over a dark, textured branch while the cubs wait below.

The collection also speaks a second, stylised language. Silveria, the Cat Figurine sits upright in smooth, mirror-polished silver. Coatl - Silver Snake Sculpture folds the serpent into an angular zigzag, coatl being the Nahuatl word for serpent, and the frog Cueyatl, from the Nahuatl for frog, looks out with a dark green eye. Pieces created with Pedro Ramírez Vázquez and others made under a licence approved by the Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí carry the same idea toward architecture and surrealism.

Frequently asked questions

Which animal sculpture suits which space?

The wild horses on their long base suit a console or sideboard; the whale and the dolphins, rising from green rock, work on a desk or a low table seen from every side. The collection runs from small animal figurines to large floor pieces, and each page lists the size.

How do silver, gold and matte black differ on an animal?

Silver is bright and cool and shows fur and feathers most clearly; 24-karat gold is warm and reflective and gives a piece ceremony; matte black absorbs light and reduces an animal to its outline. All three are protected by a resistant lacquer, so a soft, dry cloth keeps them; metal polish is unnecessary.

Which animals carry a meaning as a gift?

Mother-and-young pieces are often given for a birth or for Mother's Day; the scarab speaks of renewal. An art advisor can show you any piece on a video call, and every piece carries our lifetime guarantee covering manufacturing defects.
