A leaf from the Mexican forest

Monstera deliciosa is native to the tropical forests of southern Mexico and Central America, and it gives this collection its best-known form. The Monstera Deliciosa Leaf Silver Fruit Bowl Table Centrepiece keeps the plant's deep splits and holes, with every vein and rib drawn in relief. The gold monstera leaf comes in two moods, one mirror-bright and one matte.

The elephant ear is broader and calmer, a heart-shaped leaf whose edges curl up to hold fruit. The tropical leaves are flatter and pear-shaped, covered by a fine net of veins, and the Fatsia japonica, a plant from Japan, raises a crown of pointed lobes around its centre. A glossy black leaf adds one dark note among the metals.

Agave, saguaro and nopal

Blue agave, Agave tequilana, is the plant from which tequila is made in Jalisco. The Silver Agave Leaf Table Center keeps its long, boat-like blade, its toothed edge and its sharp tip, and the palm leaves share that narrow profile, made for a long dining table. Each leaf fruit bowl also works on a sideboard or as a catch-all on a console.

The plant sculptures stand on dark green bases like patches of ground. The Silver Saguaro Cactus Sculpture lifts its upturned arms like the giant cactus of the Sonoran Desert; the San Pedro, a columnar cactus of the Andes, rises slim and straight; the nopal stacks its speckled paddles, as on the coat of arms of Mexico, where the eagle perches on one.

Orchids, tulips and calla lilies

The silver flower pots borrow from classical architecture. The Silver Flower Pot Corinthian Column is wrapped in acanthus leaves, its Ionic companion is crowned with scrolled volutes, and a hexagonal pot with relief panels and a raised pot on scrolled feet complete the group. Each holds an orchid with pink, white or yellow blooms among green leaves.

As a tulip photo frame, the Silver Photo Frame & Gold Tulips wraps a picture in soft, draped silver with gold-yellow tulips on green stems. Calla lilies are a recurring motif in Mexican painting, famously in the work of Diego Rivera, and a relief sets white and silver lilies with dark green leaves on a warm copper-coloured panel. Silver mushroom caps on a mossy base round out this botanical home decor and lead on to our Mushroom decor.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Blue Agave Leaf actually blue?

No. The name refers to the species, Agave tequilana, the blue agave of Jalisco. The Blue Agave Leaf itself is finished in silver, with the same long, toothed silhouette as the plant.

Which pieces work as a table centrepiece?

The large monstera, elephant ear and palm leaves are each a decorative leaf centerpiece for the dining table, and the smaller bowls suit a sideboard. Our Fruit bowls and Flower vases pages hold pieces that sit naturally beside them.

How are the silver and gold leaves cared for?

A resistant lacquer protects every finish, so a soft, dry cloth is all it needs, and metal polish is best left aside. Each piece is designed and finished by hand in Mexico City, carries a lifetime guarantee covering manufacturing defects and can be seen on a video call with an art advisor.
