Orange Sculptures
Orange sits between red and yellow and is one of the warmest accents a room can hold. Here it takes the form of the UFO Orange Vase by Attanasio Mazzone, a glossy, friendly shape in vivid red-orange.
A small visitor in red-orange
The UFO Orange Vase is a compact, rounded, hooded form with a large oval opening on the front, two short, stubby arms at its sides and a flared, skirt-like base. Read together, those features give it the look of a small, friendly visitor from space, which is where the name comes from.
It is one colour throughout, a vivid red-orange with a high-gloss, smooth surface and no decoration at all. The oval opening reads as a deep, shadowed hollow, so the piece seems to have a face without needing features. Designed by Attanasio Mazzone for D'Argenta and finished by hand in Mexico, it is playful and graphic rather than classical: a designer vase that is as much a small sculpture as a vessel.
Orange as an accent
Orange is one of the warmest, most energetic colours in a room, and a little of it goes a long way. A single strong colour piece is a simple way to bring one accent into a neutral room of white walls, pale wood or grey stone, where the gloss catches the light and the colour carries across the space.
It works the other way too. Placed near a rug, a cushion or a painting that already holds orange, rust or terracotta, the vase picks up that note and ties the room together. On a shelf, a desk or a side table, with a few stems or left empty, an orange accent piece of this size stays deliberate rather than busy.
The same visitor in other colours
The UFO model travels across our colour pages: the UFO Yellow Vase among the yellow sculptures, the UFO Pink Vase and the UFO Purple Vase among the pink and purple ones, the UFO Blue Vase and the UFO White Vase on the blue and white pages. Seen side by side, the same form changes temperament with each colour, from the calm of white to the heat of orange.
Our Colorful sculptures page gathers them alongside other pieces in strong colour, and our Flower vases page sets the UFO beside vases finished in silver, gold and copper. For a shelf built around colour, the orange one is the warmest place to start, and the easiest to pair with wood and natural fibres.
Frequently asked questions
Is the UFO Orange Vase meant for flowers?
It works both ways. With a few stems it is a modern vase; left empty, the oval opening becomes a shadowed hollow and the piece reads as a small sculpture. Either way it suits a shelf, a desk or a side table where its colour can be seen.
Does the same vase come in other colours?
Yes. The same UFO model appears in yellow, pink, purple, blue and white, each on its own colour page. Among the orange sculptures, it appears in its vivid red-orange.
How true is the orange on screen?
Screens vary, and a vivid, high-gloss red-orange is hard to judge from a photograph. An art advisor can show you the vase on a video call, in daylight, before you decide. D'Argenta has been a Mexico City house since 1976, and we ship throughout Mexico.
